Thanks to the contributions of our donors and the good wishes of family and friends, Sahishnu Foundation opened the Dr. Narendra Chauvahn Physical Therapy Center for all those in need.
Why rural India needs physiotherapy
Physiotherapy helps people recover movement and physical function, and so improves their quality of life. In India’s cities physiotherapy is becoming more common, but rural India still lacks good-quality physiotherapy services. Rural areas have limited health facilities, they are hard to reach, and there is often no referral system to send patients for the physiotherapy they need. Many physiotherapy treatments need only simple equipment and a small team, so they are a low-cost way to bring care to remote villages. This is why physiotherapy is an important health service for the Bramhapuri area, and why physiotherapists can play a growing role in rural healthcare — assessing, diagnosing and treating weakness and movement problems, and giving advice and health education.
Outreach camps
We bring specialist doctors to Bramhapuri and nearby villages, free of cost. Since 2021 the foundation has organized free diagnostic and counselling camps in cardiology, spine and orthopedics, urology, pulmonology, psychiatry, dental care and bone mineral density screening. Community outreach camps have also taken general consultations and OPD-based physiotherapy to villages such as Khadki–Panholi and Shivani. See all camps we have held →
Dental clinic and oral cancer screening
Dental care and oral cancer screening at the clinic. On 13 April 2024, Dr. Arti Chauhan conducted a successful dental camp at Sahishnu Foundation, Bramhapuri, providing care to around 20 patients. As announced at that time, she promised to provide care for a social cause to the poor and needy at the foundation every month. Kaka/Kaku OPD — outpatient care for the elderly
Outpatient consultations with special care for elderly patients. Dr. Umakant Raut (BAMS), a well-known medical practitioner from Bramhapuri, joined Sahishnu Foundation to provide diagnostic, counselling and screening services at the clinic. Mental health — clinical psychologist and psychiatric teleconsultation
Counselling by a clinical psychologist (therapist), and psychiatric consultation by video call. Dr. Sachin Hemke counsels patients with psychiatric disorders through video-conferencing (teleconsultation). As announced on 12 June 2023, this OPD is available on every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month — please call or WhatsApp to confirm current dates and timings.
Dead Body Freezer Service
Sahishnu Foundation provides a safe, hygienic, and affordable dead body freezer facility to help families preserve the deceased with dignity until the final rites can be arranged.
Our facility is available 24 hours a day and is designed to provide families with a reliable option during difficult circumstances, including when relatives need additional time to arrive or when funeral arrangements require coordination.
